The timings are a community report from one full-release guide. A rewind or different route state can change the surrounding scene even when the Knight remains available.

Act I recruitment routes

Chester

The community guide reports a linked two-quest sequence:

1. Accept Chester's first quest and send Angelica.
2. Accept the follow-up quest.
3. Match the clue shown by the quest: a shiny clue points to Gwendan, an aroma points to a mounted Knight, and a bad smell points to the cheese option.
4. Avoid the dismissive "You're Welcome" response when resolving the sequence.

This is one of the more detailed reports in the source, but dialogue state can still matter. If the quest wording differs, follow the clue on your screen rather than forcing the table.

Groveshire branch: Wolf, Rufus, or Silgur

The same incident is reported to lead to different recruits:

Do not treat the untested Wolf alternative for Zolta as a confirmed route. Use Tarcus if you want to follow the documented community path.

The source did not provide stable enough conditions for Daguez, Oliver, or Ari. They are deliberately omitted from the route tables instead of filling the gap with guesses.

Before committing to a recruit

Use this five-point check:

1. Confirm the act and scene. A correct choice in the wrong branch will not reproduce the route.
2. Check which Knight must be present or absent. Chester, Groveshire, Alwena, and tournament reports all depend on party state.
3. Save before the branch. Recruitment choices can exclude another Knight or require a death.
4. Read the current dialogue. Translation or patch wording can differ from the community guide.
5. Record the result after a rewind. Learned knowledge may unlock a new response, so a later cycle is not always identical.

What the achievement list can and cannot confirm

Steam's official achievement list includes A Knight's Game for recruiting all available Knights at least once and names several characters in other achievements. This confirms that broad roster collection is intended. It does not reveal the recruitment triggers above; those remain community route reports.
