What the official material confirms

  • The Demon can turn back time.
  • Knowledge learned before the rewind is retained.
  • Official Steam news says a rewind can reveal new options, pathways, characters, and special responses based on prior knowledge.
  • Steam achievements include Demon-related milestones, but their text does not define the entire system.

What a rewind is good for

Use it when a result taught you something important: a Knight was a bad fit, a hidden attribute mattered, a relationship choice closed an option, or a quest outcome revealed a more promising route.

The useful resource is not only a different result. It is the information the failed or abandoned timeline gave you.

What carries over?

Knowledge is the only carry-over stated clearly enough to treat as a general rule. A source may show a particular option, relationship, item, or character behaving differently after a rewind, but that does not prove every part of the save state persists in the same way.

Avoid assuming that Treasury, equipment, room construction, Knight availability, or relationship values always survive unless the current screen explicitly shows it.

How many cycles are there?

No accepted official source publishes one universal full-run total. A route can branch, and rewinds can change the path, so a single number taken from one playthrough would not be a reliable answer for every player.

Treat a cycle as the current decision loop shown by the game, not as proof of a fixed remaining chapter count.

A rewind decision checkpoint

Before rewindingA useful answer
What did this timeline teach me?Name the attribute, pairing, consequence, or response you learned
Which earlier choice will I test?Pick one decision instead of hoping every result changes
What is confirmed to persist?Learned knowledge
What should I re-check on screen?Treasury, equipment, rooms, relationships, and Knight availability

Spoiler warning: a player's route experience

The first video is a spoiler-lighter explanation of learning before rewinding. The second discusses deaths, recruitment changes, and an ending attempt.
