1. Read every Audience choice as a trade-off
An Audience decision can affect Merchants, Mystics, Scholars, Nobles, the People, or the Treasury. Identify who gains, who may object, and what the immediate cost is before choosing the most attractive line of dialogue.
2. Keep a Treasury buffer
Petitions are not the only calls on your resources. Equipment, repairs, rooms, and later choices may compete for the same reserve. A small cushion preserves options when the next problem appears.
3. Separate public approval from Knight satisfaction
Population groups and Knights are different pressures. A politically useful decision may still upset a Knight, while a satisfying assignment is not automatically the best answer for the kingdom.
4. Compare all five quest stats
Strength, Agility, Charisma, Magic, and Wit are the official Knight stats. Use the quest's visible needs to build a shortlist rather than choosing from one impressive number. The quest-assignment guide explains the full check.
5. Treat hidden attributes as information
Launch-period hands-on reporting found that positive and negative attributes can begin hidden. When a result reveals one, use that knowledge in later assignments instead of assuming the visible stats tell the entire story.
6. Do not confuse preferences with performance traits
A preference can affect whether a Knight stays satisfied without proving that the Knight is the best performer for a quest. The Knights guide keeps stats, attributes, preferences, and satisfaction separate.
7. Use equipment and annex items as support
The official description says Tower annexes such as the Forge and Alchemy Room can produce items for Knight quests. Use equipment to support a plausible match; do not treat an item as proof of a guaranteed result.
8. Investigate unexpected outcomes
A Steam community discussion reports that an Unexpected Outcome can depend on finding a specific Knight for a specific quest. That makes unusual results worth recording, but it does not reveal a complete pairing list or official formula.
9. Learn before you rewind
The Demon preserves learned knowledge. Before abandoning a timeline, identify what the result exposed: a hidden attribute, a poor pairing, a relationship consequence, or a better response. The first-cycle walkthrough shows where this check fits.
10. Treat community routes as examples
Branching choices and rewinds mean one creator's successful timeline is not automatically universal. Use videos to see the interface and possible decisions, then verify the conditions in your own current build.
11. Check availability before planning the perfect assignment
A strong Knight cannot solve a quest while away, committed to another event, or unavailable because of route state. Confirm the current roster before spending resources to support a plan you cannot use.
12. Change one factor after a failed quest
If you replace the Knight, equipment, earlier decision, and timing together, the next result teaches you very little. Change one meaningful factor so the comparison remains useful after a rewind.
13. Use Alwena to reduce uncertainty
Official character material describes Alwena as an information gatherer who can reveal private details about Knights. When a hidden trait is the biggest risk, information may be more valuable than guessing from the portrait or role.
14. Use the Forge against a specific problem
Carina can craft weapons and shields and repair damaged armour. Check the next assignment and the selected Knight first; craft because the item supports a known need, not merely because the Forge is available.
15. Save Alchemy boosts for a known weak point
Belladona's potions temporarily improve Knight stats. Read the current item description and use a boost where the visible quest requirements show a real gap rather than assuming every potion fits every task.
16. Decide your recruit before a branching incident
Some community-reported recruitment incidents lead to different Knights depending on the choice or party state. Read the recruitment guide, choose the target, and note the evidence label before committing.
17. Keep a simple route notebook
Record the act, day, available Knights, decisive dialogue, and result for a branch you may revisit. A short record is more reliable than combining memories from two different timelines.
18. Follow the wording in your current build
Patches and translations can change a clue or option. A guide should help you recognize the decision, but the live quest text is the final authority for the version you are playing.
19. Use achievements as goals, not hidden instructions
Steam's 75 descriptions can confirm a target such as holding funds or recruiting available Knights. A short achievement description does not automatically reveal the fastest route, every prerequisite, or a guaranteed trigger.
20. Separate official facts from community evidence
Official sources are strongest for names, release features, broad mechanics, and achievement wording. Community guides are useful for routes and examples, but should remain tied to their author, build, and uncertainty notes.
A compact decision checklist
| Before this moment | Check this first |
|---|---|
| Audience choice | Affected groups, Treasury cost, and later flexibility |
| Quest assignment | Visible requirements, five stats, known attributes, equipment, satisfaction |
| Unexpected result | Knight–quest pairing and newly revealed information |
| Demon rewind | What you learned and which earlier decision you intend to test |
